The Problem That Sparked a Mission: 

When Gerry Florentín looked at the event industry in Durham, NC, he saw two significant problems that needed to be addressed. First, there was a clear lack of appealing non-alcoholic beverages at events that would satisfy and delight guests who do not drink alcohol. Second, and perhaps more personal, was the difficulty individuals with chronic illnesses face when trying to find employment opportunities that accommodate their unique needs and challenges.

What is Salud! Alc-Free: 

Located in Durham, NC, Salud! Alc-Free operates as a mobile business, bringing their services directly to where clients want them to be. Less than a year since launching, Salud! Alc- Free is already active, serving at select events and building momentum as a mobile bar offering alcohol-free craft beverages with purpose. 

Salud! Alc-Free is a mobile bar offering premium non-alcoholic drinks, including mocktails, beers, and wine. Their drinks are crafted with care, designed not only for taste but also to promote awareness of alcohol abuse, chronic illnesses, and the challenges people with these conditions face. 

The mission of Salud! Alc-Free is twofold: to provide an alternative job source for people who face chronic illnesses and to raise awareness about the invisible struggles those with chronic conditions endure. Gerry aims to create an environment where employees and customers alike can feel included, valued, and part of a community all while enjoying a refreshing drink.

Facing the Challenges Head-On:

Building any business comes with obstacles, but Gerry faced unique challenges that tested his determination. A significant hurdle has been the physical demands of operating Salud! Alc-Free while managing his chronic illness. This made it challenging to handle all aspects of the business, especially the physical setup and service at events. To overcome this, he has recognized the need to find reliable employees who can assist with the physical operations, allowing him to focus on other crucial areas of the business and ensuring its consistent function despite his health limitations.

When asked if echo has been supportive, Gerry’s answer is an emphatic yes!
