Teens Tackle Paper Streets & Civic Design: Charette #3
Youth-led community event to reimagine an unused plot of land behind The Scrap Exchange in Durham.

On June 27, echo's Youth Advisory Council invites the Durham community to help shape the future of a paper street — an unused plot of land right behind The Scrap Exchange that's officially mapped as a road but was never built. Durham has about 700 of them, covering roughly 400 acres across the city. This one is ours to reimagine.
The third in a 4-part charette series built on echo's For Youth, By Youth model — meaning young people aren't just participating, they're leading. This event is the continuation of the public starting point. The ideas, concerns, and visions shared on June 27 will directly shape the direction we go.
Come ready to engage. There will be art, interactive stations, conversation, food, and real opportunities to leave your mark on what this space becomes.
When: Saturday, June 27, 2026 | 12–3pm
Where: Behind The Scrap Exchange | 2050 Chapel Hill Rd, Durham, NC 27707
Cost: Free and open to the community
