Turning Friendship Into Fuel: Akaash's Mission with Get Nuvo

"I started this business with my co-founder because we have always been competitive. From Fortnite, to basketball, to grades, we were always finding ways to compete. We created Get Nuvo, a motivation app that turns your goals into fun, addicting competitions with friends, helping you stay accountable, follow through, and become who you said you would be. The most rewarding part has been bringing an idea inspired by our friendship to life."
~ Akaash
A Mission Born From Friendship and Competition:
When Akaash and his co-founder Shaurya looked back at their friendship, they saw one consistent thread running through all of it: competition. Fortnite, basketball, grades — if there was a way to be better than each other at something, they found it. But one day they realized something. For all that competing, there was never a real way to prove who was actually better overall. No app let you compete and track your progress on anything, with anyone.
That gap was the whole idea. It wasn't just a product; it was the thing they'd been living their entire friendship. So seven months ago, this 10th grader and his co-founders built Get Nuvo, an app that turns any goal into a competition you can actually prove. What started as a dynamic between two friends is now a platform designed to help anyone chasing a goal stop doing it alone.
What is Get Nuvo:
Get Nuvo LLC is a motivation app that turns your goals into competitions with your friends- the fun, addicting way to actually follow through and become who you said you would be. The app is built for anyone chasing a goal, which is essentially everyone. Whether it's fitness, school, saving money, or building a habit, Get Nuvo is for people who want to actually follow through rather than just intend to.
At the heart of Get Nuvo is a solution to one of the most common reasons people fail to reach their goals: they're doing it alone, with no one keeping them accountable. Get Nuvo fixes that by turning your goals into competitions with your friends, so the drive to keep going comes from something deeply human: not wanting to lose.
The Challenges of Building at 15:
Building Get Nuvo has come with two significant challenges that Akaash and his team have had to navigate head-on. The first is being taken seriously. At 15, it can be tough to get people to believe in what you're building before they've seen it. Their response has been simple and effective: let the product speak. Once people see that they actually built something real, the doubt usually goes away.
The second and biggest challenge right now is funding. None of the founders have deep pockets, which has forced them to be resourceful and build almost everything themselves. It's pushed the team to be creative and scrappy in ways that have made them stronger builders, but it remains the challenge they feel most acutely as they prepare for launch.
The Moment Everything Felt Real:
Akaash's most exciting moment so far came when Get Nuvo was featured on ABC 11. When he and his co-founder London found out they were going to be on the news, they couldn't believe it. A group of 15-year-olds who built something in their free time was suddenly being shown on TV across the Triangle. That was the moment it really hit them that this was bigger than just them. People were actually paying attention to what they built.
A Support System That Showed Up:
One of Akaash's biggest supporters throughout the journey has been Building Financial Futures of America. Vrund, Toby, and Liam took the time to mentor him and show him how the business world really works. From filling out legal documents to knowing how to buy the right camera. They guided him through every step and taught him real financial literacy that he uses constantly. Akaash is clear that he genuinely couldn't have made it this far without them.
Building Toward Launch:
Akaash's biggest goals right now are to reach 10,000 followers and get 5,000 people to download the app once it launches. The product is built. This next stage is all about getting it into as many hands as possible and building the community around it that will carry Get Nuvo forward.
Akaash's Advice to Young Entrepreneurs:
Drawing from seven months of building Get Nuvo while navigating 10th grade, Akaash offers three essential pieces of advice:
Never give up, no matter what anyone says. You can do it if you have the right people around you and you put your mind to it. The people who believe in you make all the difference.
Don't let anyone tell you you're too young. Some of the most successful people started their business careers young, and even the ones who failed learned from it and came back stronger. Your age is an advantage, not a limit.
Just start, even before you feel ready. You'll never have everything figured out, and waiting for the perfect moment means you never begin. Build something small, learn as you go, and improve it over time. Action teaches you more than planning ever will.
It's Your Turn to Get in the Game:
Akaash's story with Get Nuvo demonstrates that the best business ideas often come from your own life. From the problems you experience, the dynamics you live in, and the gaps you can't stop thinking about. His journey shows that being 15 is not a limitation. It's a perspective. When you build something rooted in something real, people pay attention.
